Bike MS 2012

On September 15th, Brian Ross was part of Team I.T.Y. on BIKE MS. They biked along the Bird-to-Girdwood Trail to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

TEAM I.T.Y. ASSEMBLE!! Under this Facebook Banner, the members raised money to CRUSH MS. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com
  •
RIDE PREP: I bought two big jars of Cytomax, my favorite supplement. It neutralizes lactic acid "burn" in my muscles. Plus it dissolves well in my water bottle and tastes good. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com
  •
RIDE PREP: Plastic peanut butter jars are the best way to carry powdered drink mixes on a bike. They keep it dry and are shatter proof. And you get to eat all the PEANUT BUTTER first!! :-)
  •
RIDE PREP: Alaskans don't believe in luck. Alaskans believe in DUCT TAPE! Had the ride been full length this year, I was ready to put ziplock bags on under my shoes and tape them around my ankles. It was very cold and wet.
  •
In the Alyeska Resort hotel room before Bike MS, we all prepared our bibs. I wish I could say this number was also my weight. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com
  •
Fully decked out, though I would switch to my cold-weather jacket when I got outside. There was a constant, near-freezing rain the entire way.
  •
Tied to my handle bar bag's mounting bracket is the blue bandana with the Bike MS logo on it, signed by people who have MS. It is to remind us that the ride, while fun, is for a serious cause. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com

This is Aniela, getting ready for her second Bike MS. She has an even better bike this year and has no problems going the distance.
  •
Come on, Brian! Let me at 'em!! Let's gooooo!! Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com
  •
Fuelling up before the ride. Bike MS breakfast consisted of pancakes, sausage and fruit at the Day Lodge in Girdwood.
  •
TEAM I.T.Y.! Left to Right: Me, Kris, his wife Angie, Robb, Aniela and her husband Blaine. Robb did not ride because of a broken collar bone. Angie and Robb provided equipment support/transport and the other 4 were riders.
  •
"Oh Captain, my Captain." Robb was Team I.T.Y. Captain. The team is named after his wife Misty, who was diagnosed with MS a few years ago. We want her to NOT have MS. Misty without MS is I.T.Y.. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com

Robb, telling us how he's going to have to kill time in the Alyeska hot tub while we are out riding. !@#$%^&!! Robb!!

I like this picture from one of Aniela's and Blaine's training rides before Bike MS. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com

This is the starting line, and a photo taken by a friend I made on last year's Bike MS, Megan Woods. She is from Valdez. That's her with the dimples.

My own camera was having battery issues and did not work. So far this is the only shot of me on the Bird-to-Gird trail during a very wet, cold ride. Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com

Megan at my favorite stop on Bird/Gird trail--the Beluga sculptures.

After we completed Bike MS, there was lunch and drinks at the Day Lodge, and some awards for fund raising. I managed to make it back to Anchorage before the heavy winds hit. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED!! Donations accepted through Oct 15 at www.BrianBikes.com
