April Powers from Magic 98.9 FM went Over the Edge for the Anchorage Community YMCA. She along with other adventuresome fundraisers rappelled off one of the tallest, most beautiful buildings in Anchorage, JL Tower in Midtown. All contributions directly benefit the YMCA of Anchorage in order to help better serve our community. The YMCA of Anchorage bring together young and old, men and women, people of all faiths, backgrounds and incomes. No one is turned away for inability to pay. Scholarships, subsidies and outreach provide critical access to low-income families. The enthusiastic cheerleaders in this group are from the 5th and 6th grade YMCA day camp. They are supporting their camp counselor Dave “the Ghostrider” For more go to:www.ymcaalaska.org/overtheedge

April made it all the way to the ground. There you see her with a safety man. That person "on Belay" at the bottom just has to pull back on the rope to stop a rappeller from decending. For more go to:www.ymcaalaska.org/overtheedge

Brian, who emceed Over The Edge on Friday, freely admits he is not as brave as April, "I have jumped out of planes for the Army, but the three times they put me in a rappel harness I was scared and awkward...and that was only about 40 feet." For more go to:www.ymcaalaska.org/overtheedge

The YMCA kids came out to show their support for all of the rappellers, especially The Ghost Rider! They did an unplanned sing-along with Brian, too. Check it out on YouTube at this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA2jcjIGPVM
