POLAR PLUNGE 2010

Team Magic 98.9/Alaska's Total Traffic jumped into Frozen Goose Lake on December 18th to raise money for Special Olympics. The team theme was THE BLUES BROTHERS.

MAGIC 98.9 AND ALASKA'S TOTAL TRAFFIC--FREEZIN' FOR A REASON: For Special Olympics Alaska!
  •
THE MAGIC 98.9/TOTAL TRAFFIC PLUNGE TEAM: TTN's Mark Tankersley, first time polar plunger!
  •
TTN's Andrew Ramos...first time polar plunger!
  •
and Magic 98.9/TTN's Brian Ross, on his SECOND Polar Plunge for Special Olympics! (note the white fur on the face).
  •
    THE BLUES BROTHERS!!
  •
Left to Right: "Joliet" Jake Blues, Mr. Fabulous, and Elwood Blues.
  •
    Say...where did Brian's BEARD go?
  •
Cue the music: We walk to the hole carved in the ice of Goose Lake (and wouldn't this be a good album cover?).
  •
Jake Blues gets his strut on!
  •
A few steps together and the crowd claps loudly. They either loved it, or were trying to warm their hands (temps were single digits negative and positive).
  •
    WE HAVE LIFT OFF!!
  •
    What goes up...
  •
...must come down! (nice move there, Mikhail Baryshnikov).
  •
Brian and Tank are ALL THE WAY UNDER. Andrew is last because he has always been light on his feet.
  •
Here is where Goose Lake claimed Tank's hat and shades.
  •
    Ladies and gentlemen...The BLUER Brothers!!
  •
Moving toward that ladder as fast as I can.
  •
Elwood and Jake Bluer pose for a victory photo.
  •
Mr. Fabulous plays a mean horn, despite the fact that his lips are turning blue.
  •
And it was all for SPECIAL OLYMPICS ALASKA. 658 people signed up, and we raised a total of $285,076!!
  •
Every plunger got a Special Olympics beach towel from an Olympian as we got out of the water.
  •
Andrew always kept his cool...even when his cool turned ice-cold.
  •
One last picture of us, soaked in ice water (and it was still in the negative temperatures).
  •
Then we RUN, not walk, into the tent that has...
  •
    HOT TUBS!!!
  •
You know guys, I think I traded DOWN from the company I had last year.
  •
    Yep...definitely!
  •
Why are we still in our suits? They had to be THAWED out so we could move!
  •
THANK YOU, everybody who donated and supported us and Special Olympics. Special thanks to Tami Bell, photographer, and Starla at Dooley's Tuxedo for the costumes.
  •
And thanks to Facebook Friends Millie (Scrabble Mouse) and Leslie who came by with this AWESOME sign.
