Zoo Fun Run 2013

On May 4th, 2013, Brian once again emceed the Alaska Zoo Kids' Fun Run, sponsored by your Alaska McDonalds! He got lots of great photos on a day of surprise snow.

  •
WELCOME TO THE 2013 ALASKA ZOO KIDS' FUN RUN. It's a Healthy Futures event, sponsored by your Alaska McDonalds.
  •
Naturally, a warm cup of McDonald's coffee on a cold, wet day hits the spot.
  •
Before the run, a late spring snowfall was already covering the branches and ground.

  •
It wasn't long after the gates opened that the Alaska Zoo started filling up with kids and parents.
  •
RRAAAWWRRR!!! Kids getting ready to race past the Zoo animals.
  •
Volunteers were ready to check kids in and give them their t-shirts. Some stayed warm by dancing...
  •
...others stayed warm by shivering. Dancing keeps you warmer, btw.
  •
There was a sea of PowerAde waiting for the kids as they completed their runs.
  •
It was a family event. Some kids will have to wait a couple more years though. It was for kids 3 to 10 years old.
  •
Some kids were really bundled up, and then they put on t-shirts that came down to their knees. CUTE!!
  •
Helping me on the mic again this year was Alaskan Olympic snowboarder Callan Chythlook-Sifsof. She was happy to pose for pictures with the young runners, too.
  •
Parents and kids just before the races.
  •
THIS KID WAS THE CUTEST! Cute kid + cool back pack cover.
  •
Now that kid knows how to travel in style!
  •
    Aaaawww!!
  •
This is Jayden Crow...at least I think Jayden is under that outfit somewhere.
  •
Chrys Castle took some photos of me on on the mic.
  •
I wasn't sure exactly what I said. I was too worried about slipping on the snow-covered stage.
  •
4 different age groups were running, boys and girls, so we had 8 different races.

This group looked like a bunch of lime popsicles to me. Adorable little lime popsicles.
  •
I was trying (unsuccessfully) to stay dry at the start line.
  •
ANGRY BIRDS!!! Not seen is the big sling shot at the starting line.
  •
Suddenly, I look down and see a tiny little co-emcee on the stage with me. I called her...mini-emcee.

  •
Time for warm-ups! Hop!! Jumping jacks!
  •
Jumping jacks! And don't accidentally hit each other!!
  •
The last groups, 9-10 year olds, looked like canaries to me.
  •
Look at that cute kid! I said that a lot that day.
  •
    More jumping jacks!!
  •
The best hats in the 9-10 year old girls run.

Another very fun Alaska Zoo Kids Fun Run! The snow made it even better, I think. We're Alaskans--we can take it! Thanks to Alaska McDonalds, Healthy Futures, and PowerAde too! See you kids next year!
